Hadleigh Roberts

Biography

I hold an MA in Interpreting & Translation and a BA in Modern Languages & European Studies (French & Spanish) from the University of Bath, UK.

My current employment is as a Project Manager in a translation company but while I am a linguist by profession I spent my time campaigning for European social democracy.

In France, I worked for the Socialist Party and the Regional Government (Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur) from 2009-2010. More recently I helped the international section of the François Hollande presidential campaign by translating Hollande’s manifesto into English for Axelle Lemaire, the French MP who counts French nationals in the UK among her constituency.

In Spain, I studied in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and volunteered for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and earned a diploma in Spanish European policy from the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Santander, Spain – a course taught by Josep Borrell, former president of the European Parliament.

Returning to the UK, I stood for election in May 2011 in Bath. At that time I was Vice Chair of Bath Labour Party and a President of the University of Bath Labour Society.

On a European level, I am a regular fixture of international conferences held by the Socialist and Democrat Group in the European Parliament, at conferences on financial regulation to youth unemployment to freedom and democracy, in places ranging from Barcelona to Brussels to Budapest.
