David Mitton


Dave has been a town councillor since 2003 and was the last Chairman of the Town Council serving from 2006 to 2008. He is a Town Councillor for the North Wellington Ward. He represents the Town Council on the Hospital of Sir John Popham Knight and the Somerset Association of Local Councils.

He has lived in Wellington for over thirty years. For most of that time he worked for the Public Service Trade Union Unison and when he retired he was Unison’s South West Regional Head of Local Government.

He is married to Jill and they have a son.

Dave became involved in local politics because he wanted to improve the quality of life for the people of Wellington and Rockwell Green and the economic prospects of the town. He is a member of the Footpaths, Community Safety, and Allotments Committes. As Co-Chair of the Wellington Market and Coastal Town Initiative, he was closely involved in producing the Vision for Wellington report and is on the Parish Plan working group . He is an active member of the Friends of Wellington Park and also involved with the Wellington Food Town project.

Since joining the Council he has been involved in a range of activities including crime prevention measures and contributing to the Guide on Wellington Walks.
