Labour candidate for the East Fairfax By-Election David Solomon

There will be a by-election for the Bridgwater Town Council seat of Fairfax East (Bower Manor) on February 6th 2025. This is due to the resignation of ‘independent’ councillor Richard Morgan. The list of candidates standing for election for one vacancy in this two-seat division on Bridgwater Town Council has been published today (Friday 10 January).  The election will be a 3-way fight for the seat. Labour, who run Bridgwater Town Council and have succesfully restored it’s historical powers in recent years, the Tories, who narrowly beat Labour to win the Parliamentary seat, but who have lost their historic power base of Sedgemoor District in the Unitary reforms and the Lib Dems, who run the disastrously collapsing County Council and who have chosen a former Tory and former Independent candidate to run for them. Labour’s candidate David Solomon is a lecturer at Bridgwater College where he is Head of Biology. David was born and bred in the town working in local industry including Wellworthy’s, Decker, Par, Bruford,Wilshire& Quick along with spells at both Hinkley A and B stations. David, who is also involved in environmental projects around Bridgwater including the Meads, says he is “passionate about giving students the best support and opportunity for further and higher education” that he is a “good and careful listener” and that his work life has taught him “to stay employed whatever the circumstances , but to take decisive action when required.”
