Wells Constituency Labour Party held its AGM and Barbeque on Saturday 25th July in the garden of long term member Gay Hector’s farmhouse in Crickham near Wedmore. The weather and surroundings were beautiful and the mood was enthusiastic and positive.
The AGM was chaired by Andy Merrifield who was re-elected as constituency chair. All positions were filled without too much arm twisting. It was great to have such a lively meeting and to get to know some of the many new members we picked up during and since the election. Despite the election result there is clearly great enthusiasm to make a difference.
Appointments included: Chair: Andy Merryfield, Vice Chair: Colin Price, Secretary: Janet Ladyman, Treasurer: Tatiana Storie and Membership Officer: Hannah Beech.
The subject of the leadership election was discussed and it was decided that we would hold a separate meeting to discuss this in more depth before nominating our preferences.
Once the formalities of the AGM were completed we were able to sit down and enjoy the company, surroundings and refreshments. Lots of views about the election and upcoming leadership and deputy leadership elections were exchanged as expected with a range of views expressed and personal favourites proposed.
All in all it was a very enjoyable day spent with like-minded people who share a desire to make the world a fairer place.
