Tickets are selling fast for Ken Loach’s screening of his powerful film ‘It’s a Free World’ on Thursday 11 June at the Princess Theatre, Burnham on Sea.
Ken Loach will be available for a question and answer session after the show. Ken Loach is a prolific and world-renowned filmmaker, best known for ‘Kes’ and ‘Cathy Come Home’ and more recently for ‘Land and Freedom’ and ‘Spirit of 45’.
It’s a Free World
‘It’s a Free World’ (cert 15) won Best Screenplay at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. The film follows Angie (played by Kirsten Wareing on career making form) who after being fired from her job, teams with her friend to find employment for immigrant workers.
Your chance to ask Ken about his work
Organiser Phil Shepherd said “Ken Loach is one of the great film-makers of our time, If you are a young aspiring film-maker – or you’re simply interested in cinema – here’s your chance to ask Ken in person about his work. Get in touch and we’ll make sure your question gets asked on the night!’

The film screening has been organized by Somerset Film with Bridgwater & District Trades Union Council. Somerset Film is a registered charity dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through film and creative technology. Bridgwater and District Trades Union Council works and campaigns around issues affecting working people in their local workplaces and communities. Bringing together activists at a grassroots level, it represents the trade union movement to the broader community.
