Bridgwater will change the geography for its Parliamentary constituency in autumn 2023 to one nearer to the town itself, dispensing with miles and miles of rural shire Tories. This gives Labour a great chance to finally capture the seat! The Bridgwater and Burnham & Highbridge branches will be joined together to form a new Bridgwater Constituency and the first thing needed will be a candidate! Labour Regional office said “In order to stand, you will need to meet the legal criteria, have been a party member for at least 12 months and be a member of an appropriate trade union. If you’re interested in applying for any of the seats, you can fill out an expression of interest form online here: Only applications submitted via this method can be considered and the deadline is 8 September. Leader of Bridgwater Town Council, Brian Smedley, said “Bridgwater has been a Labour Town for generations and at last we have the chance to win the Parliamentary seat. Its important that we have a broad selection of candidates, that the members who live in the Constituency can vote for their candidate after interview, and that every Party Member who would like to stand has the chance to be considered for the role. “
