Labour Party members and Trades Unionists across Somerset have been turning out in solidarity to striking Clarks Workers on the picket line at their Street Factory. The workers are on all out strike against the ‘Fire and Re-Hire’ policy of their bosses and are making a stand for every workers. On Friday 29th October Bridgwater & West Somerset CLP will be holding an evening of live music at the Bridgwater Arts Centre so people can drop in to a social environment, learn about the strike and , if they wish, make a donation to the cause and, if not, just enjoy some music in good company. The event is free, and doors open at 7pm the bar will be open from 7.30pm, anyone is welcome. Trevor Stephens and Francis Foley from the Clarks Strikers will attend and speak at 8.30pm and messages of solidarity from Members of Parliament and Trades Unionist will be read out or transmitted live on air. Musicians starting at 8pm will include Red Smed, John D Revelator, Elaine di Campo, Yvette Staelens, Alan Gadd, Ted Franklin, Tyler Dod, Robin Head and some ‘surprises’. There will also be food available at the venue (for a donation).
