Yeovil Labour Christmas Food Bank Appeal

This year has been hard on everyone and will more than likely mean more families struggling to feed themselves over the festive period – what with insufficient Universal Credit, countless job losses, hours being cut, and the devastating effect of a decade of austerity still being felt within our community. In the spirit of this, Yeovil CLP held a Christmas Food Bank appeal, where Labour party members can make donations of non-perishable items, which will then be split between the following three food banks in our constituency: Lord’s Larder – Yeovil, Lord’s Larder – Chard and Crewkerne Community Church – Crewkerne. A socially distanced food donation drop off point at Yeovil Labour Club took place on Saturday 12th December between 10 am – 2 pm. The event was a great success and Yeovil CLP will be separating donations up into parcels for each respective food bank.

Many items listed below were donated by members:- Coffee- Jam- Tinned potatoes- Tinned fruit- Toothpaste- Soap- Toilet roll- UHT Milk- Bags of sugar- Feminine hygiene products- Cereal- Non-perishable items for children’s lunchboxes- Treats (chocolate/biscuits etc.)

Amazing Effort

Terry Ledlie Chairman of Yeovil Labour party said: “What an amazing effort involved and a big thank you to Rebecca and Olivia who gave up their time to make this event a Great Success. It is also a sad reality that some of our members may themselves be struggling this year, and so I have written below contact details for each of these food banks and would encourage any member to make use of them if needed. Some of them do not need a referral from an agency, and please note Crewkerne Food Bank also offers hot meals on several days of the week. If you would like contact details for food banks in Yeovil Constituency Please see below.”
