It’s election time and this week Postal Votes are arriving through people’s letterboxes and already the votes are arriving back at Sedgemoor. BUT…Sedgemoor have made a mistake….on some multi-candidate wards voters are being told to only vote for one candidate when in fact there are more than 1 seat. You will notice this wherever you see more than one Labour candidate on your voting slip – we aren’t of course standing against each other so you can vote for ANY and EVERY Labour candidate you see on the ballot slip.
Sedgemoor’s explanation; “Postal votes for the District and Parish Elections were sent first class on Monday 15th April. We have since received a number of telephone calls requiring clarification around the number of candidates that a person can vote for in wards or parishes where there is more than one vacancy. The wording of point 3 on the reverse of the statement suggests that electors can only vote for one candidate; in some wards or parishes this may be misleading, so for absolute clarity we are asking electors to please follow the instructions on the top of the ballot paper/s they have received. All postal voters will be receiving a letter for additional clarity.”
Was it a mistake or was there some shenanigans going on?
It’s not as if this is the first time they’ve done postal voting??
