On Saturday April 16th there will be a chance to show public opposition to the austerity policies of the Tory Government with a ‘March against Austerity’ organised by the People’s Assembly and supported by the TUC. The march will start from Gower street, Euston road at 1pm and finish with a rally in Trafalgar square.
The demonstration, for “health, homes, jobs and education” and to “end austerity now” is called by the People’s Assembly against Austerity, and speakers will include Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and Green Party MP Caroline Lucas
Several buses are being run to the event from Somerset.
YEOVIL
Yeovil Trades Union Council has hired a 55-seater Executive coach to take people, free of charge. The coach will depart at 9am and seats can be booked from Viv Willis, vivianj6789@gmail.com or 07855 320041.
“This demonstration is all the more needed because of George Osborne’s budget, which will further impoverish the poorest and most vulnerable people, even those with disabilities, while giving tax breaks to the richest”, said Martin Bailey, President of Yeovil Trades Union Council and Deputy Convenor at Yeovil’s famous helicopter factory. “Although we will not refuse donations towards the cost of travel, we are glad to offer free transport so that the very people worst hit by George Osborne’s budget will be able to take part and make their voice heard, however badly off they are.”
The organisers are hoping that students, teachers, junior doctors, unemployed people, those on zero-hours contracts or other insecure employment and homeless or poorly housed people will join the demonstration, along with anyone who wants to protest at the government’s austerity policy.
Coach DEPARTS from Yeovil Bus Station 9am Saturday 16th April 2016. DEPARTS from London 4pm. Travel is free, donations accepted. To book your seat contact Viv vivianj6789@gmail.com or 07855 320041
