Bridgwater Labour Party is sad to announce the death this week of sitting councillor Alex Glassford after a fight with cancer. Alex has been a Sedgemoor District Councillor for the Fairfax ward of Bridgwater from 2011 to 2023 and a Bridgwater Town Councillor from 2011 to 2023. He was the Mayor of Bridgwater from 2016-2017. During his time in public office he was a regular member of the Sedgemoor District and Bridgwater Town Planning committees and had a 100% attendance record. Alex, who was born in Glasgow, moved to Bridgwater and was the manager at the Paragon Laundry on Taunton road and then the proprietor of the Bridgwater Labour Club. He also worked at the Railway Club and the Bristol and Exeter.
